Ingredients

Units Scale

Blueberry Syrup:

  • 2 cups water
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup fresh blueberries
  • 18 large fresh basil leaves

Lemonade:

  • 1 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • 2 cups cold sparkling water (or additional water if preferred)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Blueberry Syrup: In a medium saucepan, combine water, sugar, and blueberries. Bring to a boil, cook for 5 minutes until sugar dissolves and blueberries burst. Mash slightly to release flavors.
  2. Infuse with Basil: Remove from heat, add basil, cover, and steep for 20 minutes.
  3. Strain and Mix: Strain syrup, discard solids. Combine blueberry syrup, lemon juice, and sparkling water in a pitcher.
  4. Serve: Enjoy over ice, garnished with lemon slices, blueberries, or basil leaves.

Notes

  • Store in the fridge for up to 3 days.
  • If not serving immediately, add sparkling water just before serving.
