Description

Delicious Caramel Apple Pie Magic Bars combine a buttery Nilla Wafer crust with a sweet and creamy topping of diced granny smith apples, white chocolate chips, caramel candies, and chopped pecans. This easy-to-make dessert is baked to golden perfection, offering a delightful blend of flavors and textures reminiscent of classic apple pie with a rich, indulgent twist.

Ingredients

Scale

Crust

  • 60 Nilla Wafers
  • 5 tablespoons (71g) unsalted butter, melted
  • ½ teaspoon salt

Filling

  • ½ cup (118ml) sweetened condensed milk
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 large Granny Smith apple, peeled, cored, and diced (about 1 heaping cup)
  • 2 cups (340g) white chocolate chips
  • 20 Rolos, unwrapped (or other chocolate caramel candy)
  • ½ cup (60g) pecans, chopped

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prepare Pan: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9×9-inch square baking pan with foil and lightly spray it with cooking spray to prevent sticking.
  2. Make the Crust: Process the Nilla Wafers in a food processor until finely ground into crumbs. Mix the crumbs with melted butter and salt using a fork until well combined. Press this mixture firmly into the bottom of the prepared pan to form an even crust. Bake for 5 minutes to set.
  3. Prepare Topping Mixture: In a small bowl or measuring cup, stir together the sweetened condensed milk and cinnamon until well blended.
  4. Assemble Layers: While the crust is hot, evenly sprinkle the diced apples, unwrapped Rolos, chopped pecans, and white chocolate chips over it.
  5. Add Sweetened Condensed Milk: Pour the sweetened condensed milk and cinnamon mixture evenly over the assembled toppings.
  6. Bake Magic Bars: Return the pan to the oven and bake for an additional 21-24 minutes until the edges are golden and bubbly.
  7. Cool and Serve: Allow the bars to cool completely in the pan before using the foil to lift them out and cutting into 16 bars.

Notes

  • Store bars in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or freeze in a single layer for up to 1 month.
  • You may substitute the Nilla Wafer crust with a graham cracker crust for added flavor variation.
  • Feel free to swap white chocolate chips with milk or semi-sweet chocolate chips according to preference.
  • Any caramel candy can be used in place of Rolos for a different caramel experience.
