Ingredients
Scale
For the Alfredo Sauce
- 1/2 cup butter
- 4 cloves garlic, finely minced
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 4 oz freshly grated parmesan cheese (about 2 cups)
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Pasta and Shrimp
- 1 lb fettuccine noodles (or favorite kind of pasta)
- 1.5 lbs large shrimp, thawed and peeled, tails optional
- 1 Tablespoon oil or butter
Garnish (optional)
- Fresh chopped parsley
Instructions
- Cook pasta: Prepare fettuccine noodles according to package instructions until al dente. Drain well and set aside.
- Prepare parmesan cheese: Grate the parmesan cheese freshly and let it sit at room temperature to ensure it melts smoothly into the sauce.
- Make Alfredo sauce: In a large saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Add finely minced garlic and sauté, stirring frequently, for about 1 minute until fragrant but not browned. Pour in the heavy cream and whisk to combine. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer and cook for 3-4 minutes, stirring often to prevent scorching. Reduce heat to low, then gradually whisk in the grated parmesan cheese until the sauce is creamy and smooth. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Toss pasta with sauce: Add the cooked pasta to the sauce and toss thoroughly to coat each strand with the creamy Alfredo sauce.
- Cook shrimp: Meanwhile, season the shrimp with salt and pepper. In a large skillet over medium-high heat, melt 1 tablespoon of butter or heat oil. Add shrimp and cook, stirring occasionally, until they turn pink and are opaque throughout, about 2-3 minutes.
- Serve: Plate the Alfredo-coated pasta and top with cooked shrimp. Garnish with fresh chopped parsley if desired, then serve immediately.
Notes
- Our easy Shrimp Alfredo recipe is a gourmet meal ready in less than 30 minutes, with tender shrimp in a creamy and flavorful sauce.
- For a lighter version, subsitute half-and-half for heavy cream but expect a thinner sauce.
- Use freshly grated parmesan cheese rather than pre-grated for better melting and flavor.
- Don’t overcook the shrimp to keep them tender and juicy.
