Description
Tender and flavorful pork ribs slow-cooked to perfection with a homemade spice rub, then finished with a sticky barbecue sauce glaze for a deliciously easy BBQ ribs recipe perfect for any occasion.
Ingredients
Scale
Spice Rub
- 2 tablespoons packed brown sugar
- 4 teaspoons chili powder
- 3 teaspoons seasoning salt
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon onion powder
- ½ teaspoon pepper
Ribs
- 3-4 pounds pork ribs (membrane removed)
- ½ cup barbecue sauce
Instructions
- Prepare the Spice Rub: In a small bowl, combine the brown sugar, chili powder, seasoning salt, garlic powder, onion powder, and pepper thoroughly to create the spice rub.
- Apply the Rub: Cut the ribs into sections if necessary for easier handling. Rub the spice mixture evenly over both sides of the ribs to ensure full flavor penetration.
- Arrange in Slow Cooker: Lightly grease a 4-quart slow cooker. Arrange the ribs standing around the edges of the cooker with the meaty side facing out to maximize cooking surface.
- Slow Cook the Ribs: Cover the slow cooker with its lid and cook on low heat for 8 hours or on high heat for 4 hours until the ribs are tender and cooked through.
- Finish with Barbecue Sauce: Remove the ribs carefully from the slow cooker. Brush them generously with the barbecue sauce. For added texture and flavor, grill the ribs for 5 to 6 minutes or broil for 2 to 3 minutes until the sauce becomes sticky and slightly caramelized.
- Serve: Serve the ribs hot, straight from the grill or broiler, for a deliciously tender and flavorful BBQ experience.
Notes
- These ribs are super simple and use a homemade spice rub for great flavor.
- Slow cooking makes the ribs fall off the bone tender.
- Grilling or broiling after slow cooking is optional but adds a wonderful caramelized finish.
- Use any favorite barbecue sauce to customize the taste.
