Ingredients
Coating
- Green candy melts – 1 cup
- Semisweet chocolate chips – 1/2 cup
Pops
- Marshmallows – 6 large
- Small pretzel rods – 6, broken into 1/8-inch pieces
- Candy eyeballs – 12 pieces
- Toothpicks – for decorating
- Lollipop sticks or colorful straws – 6
Decoration
- Edible black marker – 1
- Edible red marker – 1
Instructions
- Melt the Candy Coating: Melt the green candy melts in a microwave-safe bowl or using a double boiler as per package instructions until smooth and fully melted.
- Dip Marshmallows: Insert lollipop sticks into each marshmallow. Dip each marshmallow into the melted green candy coating, turning to cover completely. Stand upright in a glass filled with uncooked rice or oatmeal. Refrigerate for about 5 minutes until candy coating hardens slightly.
- Prepare Chocolate Hair: Melt the semisweet chocolate chips until smooth using microwave or double boiler. Dip the tops of the coated marshmallows into the melted chocolate and use a toothpick to drag the chocolate downward to form spikes resembling hair. Refrigerate again for 5 minutes to harden.
- Add Pretzel Bolts: Break pretzel rods into small 1/8-inch pieces to create bolts. Carefully push one pretzel piece into each side of the marshmallow, about one-third from the bottom.
- Attach Candy Eyes: Using a toothpick dipped in melted chocolate, place two small dots on each marshmallow and press candy eyeballs onto them to secure.
- Draw Face Details: Use the black edible marker to draw a mouth, then use the red edible marker to add a laceration mark on Frankenstein’s forehead.
- Serve or Store: Enjoy immediately or store the pops upright in an airtight container in the refrigerator until ready to serve.
Notes
- Use a glass filled with rice or oatmeal to hold marshmallow pops upright while the coating sets.
- If candy melts are too thick, add a little vegetable oil to thin them for easier dipping.
- Store finished pops in an airtight container in the fridge to maintain freshness.
- These pops are best enjoyed within 1-2 days for optimal texture and flavor.
