Description

This Halloween Spiderweb 7-Layer Dip is a festive and flavorful appetizer perfect for spooky celebrations. Layers of creamy refried beans, fresh guacamole, zesty salsa, and taco-seasoned sour cream are topped with shredded cheddar cheese and colorful diced vegetables. The crowning touch is a fun sour cream spiderweb design garnished with plastic spiders, making it both delicious and visually striking for Halloween parties.

Ingredients

Scale

Layers

  • 16 ounces Refried Beans (canned)
  • 16 ounces Guacamole
  • 16 ounces Salsa
  • 1 3/4 cups Sour Cream
  • 1 Packet of Taco Seasoning (1 ounce packet)
  • 2 cups Shredded Cheddar Cheese

Toppings

  • 1/4 cup Diced Tomatoes
  • 1/4 cup Diced Green Bell Pepper
  • 2.25 ounces Sliced & Drained Black Olives (canned)

Decoration

  • Plastic Spiders

Instructions

  1. Layer Refried Beans: In a 2-quart round casserole dish, spread a smooth layer of refried beans evenly across the bottom to form the base layer.
  2. Add Guacamole Layer: Next, spread a layer of guacamole over the refried beans, ensuring an even coverage for the second layer.
  3. Prepare and Add Seasoned Sour Cream: Measure 1/4 cup of sour cream and set it aside for decorating later. Mix the remaining sour cream with the taco seasoning packet until well combined. Spread this taco-seasoned sour cream mixture over the guacamole layer.
  4. Top with Salsa: Spread a layer of salsa evenly on top of the taco-seasoned sour cream to add vibrant flavor and color.
  5. Add Cheddar Cheese: Finely chop the shredded cheddar cheese into smaller pieces if desired for better layering, then sprinkle it evenly over the salsa layer.
  6. Create the Spiderweb Decoration: Fill a Ziploc bag, icing bag, or condiment bottle with the reserved 1/4 cup sour cream. Cut a small hole in the corner or use a nozzle to pipe. Draw a spiderweb by first making a cross shape (two intersecting lines), then rotate the dish 90° and draw another cross over it. Between each line, pipe three curved connecting lines to complete the web effect.
  7. Add Vegetable Border: Arrange diced tomatoes, green bell peppers, and sliced black olives around the edges of the dip to create a colorful border enhancing both taste and presentation.
  8. Place Plastic Spiders: Carefully place plastic spiders on top of the sour cream spiderweb to add a spooky Halloween touch.
  9. Serve or Store: Serve the dip immediately for best freshness or cover tightly with plastic wrap and refrigerate until ready to serve.

Notes

  • The dip layers pack a wonderful combination of textures and flavors ideal for any Halloween party or casual gathering.
  • Use finely chopped cheddar cheese for smoother layering and more even coverage.
  • The sour cream spiderweb can be made ahead and refrigerated; just add plastic spiders right before serving.
  • Serve with tortilla chips, crackers, or fresh vegetables for dipping.
  • Ensure the plastic spiders are clean and safe for food decoration or replace with edible spider-shaped toppers if preferred.
