Ingredients
Scale
Chicken
- 1.5 pound chicken breasts, chopped into bite-size pieces
- 1/4 cup corn starch
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Sauce & Cooking
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 5-6 cloves garlic, crushed or minced
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1/4 cup honey
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon hot sauce or sriracha
Instructions
- Prepare the Chicken: Pat the chicken pieces dry with a paper towel. In a large bowl, combine the chicken pieces with corn starch, red pepper flakes, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Stir thoroughly to ensure the chicken is evenly coated.
- Cook the Chicken: Melt 2 tablespoons of butter in a large heavy-duty pan over medium-high heat. Add the coated chicken pieces to the pan and cook for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until the chicken is cooked through and has a light golden crust.
- Make the Sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together the minced garlic, olive oil, honey, lemon juice, soy sauce, and hot sauce or sriracha until well combined.
- Combine Chicken and Sauce: Pour the prepared sauce over the cooked chicken in the pan. Continue cooking for another 4-5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens and becomes sticky, coating the chicken bites thoroughly. Cooking the sauce longer will result in a thicker and stickier glaze.
- Serve: Remove from heat and serve the honey garlic chicken bites over your choice of rice, pasta, or alongside your favorite vegetables for a complete meal.
Notes
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3 to 4 days.
- For longer storage, freeze the cooked chicken in airtight containers for up to 3 months. Note that freezing may affect the texture and crispiness, but the flavor remains delicious.
- You can adjust the level of spiciness by varying the amount of red pepper flakes or hot sauce used.
- For a gluten-free option, substitute soy sauce with tamari or coconut aminos.
