Description

Delicious and easy-to-make Pigs in Blankets featuring smoky streaky bacon wrapped around cocktail sausages, baked until crispy and glazed with sweet honey for a perfect bite-sized appetizer or holiday treat.

Ingredients

Scale

Meat

  • 15 rashers/strips of smoked streaky bacon
  • 30 cocktail sausages

Glaze

  • 2 tbsp honey

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat the oven to 200C/400F (fan-assisted) to prepare for baking the sausages wrapped in bacon.
  2. Prepare Bacon: Take each rasher of bacon and stretch it out slightly, then slice each rasher in half widthways to create smaller pieces suitable for wrapping.
  3. Wrap Sausages: Take one cocktail sausage and wrap it with a half piece of bacon, ensuring it is fully covered. Place the wrapped sausage seam-side down on a baking tray to keep it secure during cooking.
  4. Repeat Wrapping: Continue wrapping each cocktail sausage with the bacon halves until all 30 sausages are wrapped and placed evenly on the baking tray.
  5. Bake: Place the tray in the preheated oven and bake for 25 minutes, until the sausages are cooked through and the bacon is crisp and golden.
  6. Add Honey Glaze: Remove the tray from the oven, drizzle the 2 tablespoons of honey evenly over the wrapped sausages to add a delicious sticky glaze.
  7. Final Bake: Return the tray to the oven and bake for an additional 5 minutes to caramelize the honey and enhance the flavor.
  8. Cool and Serve: Take out the tray, allow the Pigs in Blankets to cool for a minute to avoid burning from the hot honey, then carefully transfer them to a serving plate to enjoy.

Notes

  • Classic party food, perfect as a festive snack or appetizer, especially around Christmas.
  • The honey glazing adds a sweet, sticky twist that complements the smoky bacon and savory sausage.
  • Ensure bacon is wrapped tightly to prevent it unwrapping during baking.
  • If preferred, substitute honey with maple syrup or omit for less sweetness.
  • Can be served with mustard or dipping sauces for extra flavor.
