Description

Mummy Dogs are a fun and festive snack perfect for Halloween or any playful occasion. These hot dogs are wrapped in crescent roll dough to resemble mummy bandages, baked until golden brown, and finished with cute candy eyes for a spooky touch.

Ingredients

Scale

Ingredients

  • 6 Hot dogs
  • 1 package Crescent Roll Dough (typically 8 oz)
  • Optional: Candy eyes for decoration
  • Optional: Ketchup or mustard for eyes

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit to prepare for baking the mummy dogs.
  2. Prepare Dough: Open the crescent roll dough package and unroll the dough onto a flat surface. Press on the perforations to seal them together, creating one continuous sheet of dough.
  3. Cut Dough Strips: Using a knife or pizza cutter, slice the dough into 1/4 inch wide strips, suitable for wrapping.
  4. Wrap Hot Dogs: Stretch and wrap the dough strips around each hot dog, overlapping and criss-crossing slightly to mimic mummy bandages. Leave gaps to reveal the hot dog underneath, giving the effect of a mummy peeking through.
  5. Place on Baking Sheet: Arrange the wrapped hot dogs evenly on a baking sheet, ensuring they do not touch to allow even baking.
  6. Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the dough is golden brown and the hot dogs are heated through.
  7. Add Eyes and Serve: Remove the mummy dogs from the oven. Attach candy eyes using small dots of ketchup or mustard on the backside of the candy eyes, placing two eyes on each mummy dog. If candy eyes are not available, use ketchup or mustard to create eye dots directly on the dough.

Notes

  • If candy eyes are not available, you can simply use ketchup or mustard to draw eyes directly onto the mummy dogs.
  • Stretch the dough slightly before wrapping to ensure a snug fit and overlapping bandage effect.
  • Use a non-stick baking sheet or parchment paper to prevent sticking.
  • These make a great kid-friendly Halloween treat and can be served with additional ketchup or mustard for dipping.
