Ingredients
Scale
Pork and Seasoning
- 3 lb boneless pork roast
- 1 1/2 cups water
- 2 tsp seasoned salt
- 2 tsp garlic powder
Honey Balsamic Sauce
- 1 1/3 cup balsamic vinegar
- 1 cup ketchup
- 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/2 cup honey
- 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 3/4 tsp salt
- a pinch of black pepper
- 1/8 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- 2 tsp minced garlic
Instructions
- Prepare and Cook Pork: Place the boneless pork roast into the slow cooker. Add the water, seasoned salt, and garlic powder around the pork. Cover and cook on low for 8 to 10 hours, or until the pork is extremely tender and easy to shred.
- Make Honey Balsamic Sauce: When the pork is nearly done, combine balsamic vinegar, ketchup, brown sugar, honey, Worcestershire sauce, salt, black pepper, red pepper flakes, and minced garlic in a medium saucepan. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring occasionally.
- Reduce Sauce: Boil the sauce mixture over medium heat for 15 to 20 minutes, until it thickens to a syrupy consistency that will coat the pork nicely.
- Combine Pork and Sauce: Drain any juices from the cooked pork in the slow cooker. Shred the pork using two forks, then mix in half of the prepared honey balsamic sauce to coat the meat evenly.
- Serve: Serve the pulled pork hot, with the remaining sauce on the side. This dish pairs wonderfully with soft buns or bread for sandwiches.
Notes
- Honey Balsamic Pulled Pork offers a delightful balance of sweet and tangy flavors, setting it apart from traditional pulled pork recipes.
- The thick, syrup-like balsamic sauce is essential for giving the dish its unique taste — don’t skip boiling it down to the right consistency.
- For best results, cook the pork low and slow to ensure maximum tenderness.
- Serve with your favorite sandwich buns or use as a flavorful filling for tacos or wraps.
