Ingredients
Scale
Fruits
- 1 pint strawberries (rinsed and dried)
Chocolate Coating
- 8 oz white melting chocolate (candy coating)
- 1 oz melting chocolate (milk or dark chocolate for face)
Others
- Parchment paper
- Cooking spray (optional, to hold parchment paper in place)
Instructions
- Prepare strawberries: Begin by rinsing your strawberries thoroughly, then place them on a paper towel to dry completely to ensure the chocolate adheres well.
- Prepare the workspace: Line a baking sheet or pan with parchment paper. To prevent the parchment from rolling up, spray the pan lightly with cooking spray before placing the parchment. Place the strawberries nearby along with a hot pad to hold your melting pot.
- Melt white chocolate: In a small pot set over low heat, melt the white candy coating gradually by adding only a few cubes at a time. Stir constantly with a rubber spatula for about 5 minutes until fully smooth to prevent burning.
- Dip strawberries: Hold the pot of melted white chocolate at an angle. Grab each strawberry by the stem and dip both sides into the white chocolate. When placing the dipped strawberry onto the parchment paper, drag and drop it slightly to create a ghostly tail effect. Repeat with all strawberries.
- Set the coating: Let the dipped strawberries set at room temperature until the white chocolate hardens completely.
- Melt chocolate for faces: Melt the milk or dark chocolate separately. Transfer it into a Ziploc bag and snip a small corner off to use as a piping bag.
- Create ghost faces: Pipe eyes and mouths onto each white chocolate-coated strawberry to form ghostly expressions.
- Chill to set: Place the decorated strawberries in the refrigerator to firm up the faces quicker and fully set the chocolate coating before serving.
Notes
- Ensure strawberries are fully dry before dipping to prevent the chocolate from slipping off.
- Stir chocolate constantly when melting to avoid burning and achieve smooth consistency.
- If parchment paper curls, a light spray of cooking spray on the pan before adding parchment helps keep it flat.
- These treats are best served the same day but can be stored in the refrigerator for 1-2 days.
- Use fresh ripe strawberries for the juiciest and sweetest results.
