Description

This Sweet and Spicy Chex Mix is a crunchy, flavorful snack perfect for parties or casual munching. A delightful combination of Chex cereals, pretzels, nuts, and bagel chips coated in a homemade sweet and spicy seasoning sauce, then baked to crispy perfection.

Ingredients

Scale

Dry Snack Mix

  • 9 cups Chex cereal (combination of rice, corn, and wheat)
  • 1 cup mini pretzel twists
  • 1 cup mini pretzel rods
  • 1 cup mini bread sticks
  • 2 cups mixed nuts (almonds, whole cashews, pistachios)
  • 1 cup bagel chips (rye or plain)

Sweet & Spicy Sauce For Seasoning

  • ¾ cup butter, melted
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • ½ cup honey
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 250°F (120°C) to prepare for baking the snack mix evenly.
  2. Combine Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, mix together the rice, corn, and wheat Chex cereals, mini pretzel twists, mini pretzel rods, mini bread sticks, rye or plain bagel chips, and mixed nuts until well combined.
  3. Prepare Seasoning Sauce: In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the butter. To the melted butter, add Worcestershire sauce, honey, onion powder, garlic powder, salt, cayenne pepper, and chili powder. Whisk the mixture thoroughly until smooth and well blended.
  4. Coat Snack Mix: Pour the sweet and spicy seasoning sauce over the dry snack mix. Use a spatula to toss and gently stir the mix, ensuring all ingredients are evenly coated with the sauce.
  5. Spread on Baking Tray: Transfer the coated snack mix evenly onto a large baking tray, spreading it out into a single layer to ensure even baking.
  6. Bake: Bake the snack mix in the preheated oven at 250°F for approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes. Stir the mixture every 25-30 minutes to promote even crispiness and prevent burning.
  7. Cool: Remove the baked snack mix from the oven and allow it to cool completely on the baking tray. Cooling will help the mix become crunchy.
  8. Store & Serve: Serve immediately for a delicious snack or store in an airtight container for up to 3 weeks to maintain freshness.

Notes

  • You can adjust cayenne pepper and chili powder according to your preferred spice level.
  • Stirring the mix occasionally during baking prevents burning and promotes even crispiness.
  • Use an airtight container to keep the snack mix fresh and crunchy for up to 3 weeks.
  • Feel free to substitute nuts or chips with your favorites or allergy-friendly options.
